Specialty Periods offer campers the opportunity to increase their level of skill in a variety of areas. On Sunday evening the kids are given explanations of all possible options, and choose two different specialties for the week. Each day they will spend an hour in the morning with the same instructor and class of campers learning a new skill. Options may include swimming lessons, windsurfing, sailing, dance, music, day trips, crafts, sculpture, Native American Crafts, shooting sports, rock climbing skills, filmmaking, photography, theater, gymnastics etc.

Free Choice activities take place each afternoon allowing campers to choose on a daily basis from all of our staff supervised activities. Traditional activities include arts and crafts, swimming, fishing, canoeing, riflery, basketball, boating, soccer, rock climbing, archery…and more.
Tent Time includes games, meals, and a wrap-up talk at the end of each day. Campers are often surprised at the strong friendship they form so quickly within their tent family.
“QUEST” is a special program where each tent chooses an adventure to experience together after the evening meal and songs.
All Camp Activities take place in the evening after flag lowering. Campers enjoy skits, staff shows, kettle games or campfire sing-along and other special events. Friday evening concludes with the awards and closing ceremony
Morning Announcements
Just after Flagraising each morning, a counselor shares the password for the day. Respect, Friendship, Honesty, Forgiveness...these are just a few. Then the Program Director announces who the camp will be especially nice to that day.
After breakfast, the camp gets going with morning music followed by the
announcements from the Program Director. These include some favorites like Sports and Weather, the Earth Tidbit, The Quotable Quote, the International Word of the Day. Each day and week vary.Tent Taps Talk
Taps Talks, or evening talks, occur just before taps is blown off the porch of Alford Lodge. At the end of the all camp evening program, the staff member who gave the password in the morning shares stories or ideas about what that means to them and the campers. Later, Back at the tent, each tent family has their own taps talk. Each child has a chance to reflect on their day while also building bonds with their tent mates. The greater meaning of camp...being a true friend, taking responsibility, respecting differences and many other topics...provide a time of reflection and growth before campers fall asleep ready for the next day of fun.
